I have some decent running backs, which two should I start for week 2?
Here are my running backs: Frank Gore, Clinton Portis, Earnest Graham, Chris Johnson, and LenDale White. I can start two in my league. I was thinking to start Clinton and Earnest for week 2. What do you think is the best match up for week two? This is a money league so expert advice is appreciated. This is only my second year in a money league.
Gore is facing Seattle, Portis is facing New Orleans, johnson is facing Cincinnati, and graham is facing Atlanta.
Well, I personally can't imagine starting Graham over Gore unless you have a compelling reason. Last week, Graham performed well, but he also split carries nearly 50/50 with Dunn. That brings up some big question marks in my mind. So, unless the matchup is very compelling (read Detroit Lions or St Louis Rams), I think you play your best RBs who are going to get the rock consistently (Gore and Portis). Besides, neither is in a timeshare scenario, and they both have consistently produced. In a few weeks, you could see Chris Johnson turning into a compelling start, and I think it's just a formality that we're not officially calling White the backup. Johnson is clearly the favorite, and is a much more dynamic threat and the future in Tennessee. Gore/Portis are your best options, and Graham/Johnson can be used either in flex roles, byes, or when the matchup is so good that it's worth the start. For the record, I think Johnson has the best matchup against the Bengals, and Could Have a big day. Tough call, but I'd personally be starting Portis and Gore.
